Sweeney's Saloon, established in 1979, is a historic neighborhood bar, restaurant and private event venue located in the heart of Saint Paul.
Our Story
Sweeney's Saloon has called this corner of Saint Paul home for nearly 140 years. The building opened in 1886 as Sweeney's Dry Goods Store. After Prohibition ended in 1933, it became Tom's 96, where the Art Deco bar that still stands today was installed.
In 1979, Leo Gadbois purchased the building, restored its exposed brick walls and oak floors, and returned the Sweeney name to the sign out front. In 2024, Will Rolf became the new owner, committed to carrying that legacy forward.
